God, I’m such a sucker for illustrated cookbooks. There’s a small, but slowly growing section of my library at home specifically dedicated to them—it’s the food artist in me, no doubt—and I’d like to think that, one day, we’ll live in a world where fully-illustrated cookbooks are more widely celebrated and mainstream (they certainly exist internationally, but are rare commodities in the American market). Until then, I’ll keep collecting and appreciating the ones I can get my hands on. I think I just derive immense pleasure from seeing food through the lens of other artists’ eyes, learning from their own unique style and medium.
